Quake is considered to be one of the pioneers of the shooter genre. Now the classic from id Software could possibly make a modernized comeback.
As is well known, QuakeCon is casting its shadows in the coming week, and the classic shooter Quake will also play a role in this. The schedule for the event, which includes a panel all about Quake, has recently been published.
The franchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and will therefore also be the subject of a panel. Spicy: The current description of the panel was originally more extensive, but the last sentence has been deleted in the meantime – but not before the Internet had exposed the hint.
For example, on the Let’s Talk Quake panel, it is currently written: “In this particular stream, Digital Foundry’s John Linneman talks to Machine Games’ Jerk Gustafsson about the iconic legacy of the title and what it has meant for both of them.”
But it only got really interesting in the following sentence of the original panel description: “The two will also discuss the additional content that Machine Games has contributed to a revitalized edition.” This has meanwhile been deleted, also because such a new edition of the classic shooter Quake has not yet been announced.
All in all, there are increasing signs that QuakeCon on the occasion of the Quake anniversary will probably also bring with it the announcement of a new edition of the shooter. The event rises from August 19th to 22nd; other titles there, which are discussed on separate panels, include Fallout 76, DOOM Eternal and the upcoming Deathloop.
