Quantic Dream becomes an independent study after 23 years of existence. After working with a multitude of publishers and a 10-year relationship with Sony, the French studio has decided to embark on a path in which they themselves will publish their games and have full control over the decisions that are made, both creative and technical. In a post in the official study website, its two heavyweights David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumière have shared what they expect in the future of Quantic Dream.
The success of Detroit: Become Human, perhaps the best game in the studio, has made it reach a good number of players around the world, something that also led to its launch on PC.
«The last two years have been exceptional: Detroit's success: Become Human, the growth of an incredible global community, the launch of our PC games, are just some of our highlights. Thanks to Detroit: Become Human, we have been able to realize the vision we had since the creation of Quantic Dream ».
«And therefore, for the first time in 23 years of working with prestigious publishers, we are now in a position to self-publish. This new company will allow us to make decisions with complete independence, and address the technological and strategic opportunities of next-generation platforms », comment on the blog. "Too it will allow us to help other developers, providing support for investment and development, so that they can fully express their talents. We want to support the creators of original projects and help them, in turn, achieve their vision and offer them quality and innovative experiences », so they open the door to publish to other studies and not only to themselves.
Other high quality studios are located in France, such as Asobo Studio, creators of A Plague Tale or Dontnod Entertainment, creators of Life is Strange, so they can be associated by proximity with Quantic Dream.
«This is more than an evolution, it is a transformation. We do it to preserve our freedom and our independence, to continue working on innovative and even more ambitious projects, to face greater challenges and to create the unexpected. Quantic Dream will never be another study. We want to face new horizons, keep our passion alive, and continue to rely on the idea of making games that are different ».
«Quantic Dream is evolving, but the study remains true to its roots. We continue to believe that interactivity can be a means of artistic expression, that passion and sincerity are our best allies to reach the players, and that the values of humanity, solidarity and inclusion that we have defended in our games for 23 years are more necessary now than ever ».
«Thanks to you, we will continue to be what we are: different, curious, passionate and sincere, and we will do our best to continue to amaze and move you», concludes the message on the web. We do not know what Quantic Dream will face in the future, but it has become clear that the success of Detroit: Become Human has served to recognize a way to make the games that the studio has been polishing over more than two decades. Whatever your future, you will have to be attentive to your creations.
