Quentin Tarantino behind the camera for a Marvel movie? It may never come to that, but the director has a very special request in connection with one of his favorite actors.
Quentin Tarantino, in full promotion for his second book, Cinema Speculation, is confident in his future, which could affect Marvel despite a recent pithy statement from the director.
Quentin Tarantino: Just a condition for a Marvel movie?
During his interview with the LA Times, Quentin Tarantino announced that he was on a serial project which will begin next year. An eight-episode small screen show. But lately, the director of pulp fiction, Inglourious Basterds or Jackie Brown has voiced his opinions on Marvel, and it’s clearly not mad love.
He explained :
You have to be a mercenary to make films like this. I’m not a mercenary. I’m not looking for a job.
While his films ended up exploding at the box office, it’s true that Tarantino is more in the writer’s box than mere makers. A dimension that Marvel doesn’t particularly like. However, this firm opinion of the MCU’s superheroes, and particularly those making the films, could be developing.
Given the choice, he would take the camera to see Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos. Why this comic series? It may be related to Nick Fury being played by Samuel L. Jackson in Marvel productions. One of Quentin Tarantino’s favorite actors who seeks his help with his work whenever he can.
His opinion on today’s cinema
Without knowing whether or not Marvel was specifically targeted, Quentin Tarantino states that the era we are currently living in is one of the worst in cinema, which for him is associated with the 80s and 50s.
While the ’80s is when I personally watched the most movies of my life — at least if we’re talking about going to the cinema — I think the cinema of those years was, like the 1950s, the worst period in Hollywood history. It’s only on par with today’s movies. The only ones who don’t conform to the norm these days are the ones who stand out.
