It’s hard to miss his w orks such as Pulp Fiction from 1994, Reservoir Dogs, which was released two years earlier, or the Kill Bill saga. These productions are always emotional and violent, leaving a lasting impression on audiences around the world. Although his filmography is not as extensive as that of many directors, his productions are always characterized by high quality.
But although his films are praised by critics and viewers, Quentin Tarantino believes he made a mistake while writing one of his most iconic feature films. This is Kill Bill, where he announced that he didn’t want to reproduce what he did back then. A statement that may seem surprising for a film so appreciated by its fans.
Quentin Tarantino’s mistakes in Kill Bill
Kill Bill is about a woman who vows revenge against her former teammates who massacred her family and ruined her marriage. The scenario was so ambitious that Quentin Tarantino decided to adapt this story into two feature films. The development of this young woman’s story spiraled out of control and became much larger than he would have liked. As I was writing the script, the whole thing almost became a novel.
But literally, when I made Kill Bill, it was so full of prose that I started to understand why people write a script and turn it into more of an outline. In fact, I had written a novel called Kill Bill.
Since Kill Bill, the 61-year-old filmmaker has vowed to maintain control over his creations: “I have made it a point of honor not to do anything like that again. I tried very hard not to do anything like that.” However, despite the length of his script, he refused to cut these two films. He could have put everything together in a single film, but that would have cut out some ultra-cult scenes. Therefore, fans believe that it was a big mistake and it would have been a shame not to make it. Without her, the two Kill Bill films would have been very different.
