Game news Rainbow Six Siege: Osa, first transgender operator, makes its creator “incredibly proud”
Regular Rainbow Six Siege players will inevitably have heard of the new season three features, which in particular will include a new playable character in the person of Osa. The transgender operator, the game’s screenwriter, returned to its integration into the famous multiplayer game.
Recently announced that Osa is an operator with high potential : it is mainly equipped witha transparent shield, the Talon-8which allows protection from bullets at the expense of mobility (of course during use). It also has medium armor and speed and can count on a 556 XI, PDW-9 and PMM in its arsenal.
He is also a transgender character, the first in Rainbow Six history.what does “Incredibly proud” Screenwriter Simon Ducharme, who helped develop this new head. With that he returns to the microphone of our colleagues from. back to his creation Game spot :
The decision to create a transgender character was made very early on as part of our initiative for an inclusive operator list. The counselors, who are all trans people, wanted to make sure that Osa was presented as authentically and organically as possible. It was written by a queer person and is played by a trans woman. And while her identity is obviously influenced by her gender, her place in Siege’s universe depends on her talents, her influence on Nighthaven, and her close friendship with Kali.
Simon Ducharmes also states that he “Tears of joy” knowing that Ubisoft “Encouraged and Supported” writing queer characters. In one tweet, he also took the liberty of adding a little explanation.
I’m not promoting anything because, as proud as I am, I want to talk about my case (Simon Ducharmes describes himself as queer in his biography, editor’s note), that’s not the case. There is work to be done by trans women (and trans people in general) cherished, safe and celebrated as they should be.
Agent Osa will be available in Rainbow Six Siege starting tomorrow, Wednesday, August 18, 2021.
