Razer Viper Mini, a mouse for small hands

Razer has started the year very strong by launching several gaming products, one of them being Balisisk V2, a mouse that we analyzed in its day. Nor can we forget about DeathAdder V2. Both mice would become high-end and more focused on competitive players. However, this does not mean that they are suitable for all types of players. Special mention to the new Focus + optical sensor that is present in both mice. According to Razer, it offers the best resolution accuracy in the industry at 99.6%.

This time it's time to go down a step and analyze a cheaper mouse that has been on the market for a few weeks, Razer Viper Mini. In addition, we will do it together with the Golitahus Extended Chroma mat. In its day we analyzed the model that has a standard size, today we will talk about the largest model that is available. Before we start the review, we have to thank Razer for letting us try these two products.

Razer Viper Mini – A Small Mouse that Makes the Size

As usual I will start by talking about the box. There is not much to say here. On the front we can see a mouse image and in the back there is a brief description of the main features. Once we open the box, the first thing that catches your attention is that here they have cut expenses on the packaging.

The mouse comes in a small bag made of a material that looks like paper. In turn, it is protected by a cardboard box so that, in case of receiving a hit, the mouse is not damaged. This time we can't find the typical plastic mold. Next, and before we continue, let's look at the characteristics of the Razer Viper Mini.

Having the mouse in your hands for the first time draws attention to two things, it is quite small and has a rough surface. The construction material is plastic and the quality of it it doesn't feel better or worse than other high-end Razer mice. Although the brand ensures that it has ambidextrous designIt really is a right-handed mouse, mostly because of the position of the side buttons.

Razer Viper Mini is a right-handed mouse

Earlier I mentioned that Viper Mini is quite small. Well, in the following image you can see the difference in size compared to the Razer DeathAdder Elite mouse. With this it is clear that he is intended for those with small hands.

Razer Viper Mine vs. DeathAdder Elite´

Razer Viper Mini has six buttons and all are programmable. At the top is the scroll wheel that in turn acts as a button. Then we find a smaller button to change the sensitivity. Usually there are usually two buttons to raise or lower the DPI, but this time Razer has decided to put only one. On the left side there are two other buttons.

Razer Viper Mini - Left-Back

We move to the right side of the mouse. There is absolutely nothing here. By the way, rubber grips are missing. It is not essential but it improves ergonomics.

Razer Viper Mini - Right-Back

To improve the displacement on the surface of the table or mat Razer has decided to put Teflon at the base. This is something that we have seen in the last mice that the brand has launched. Something that is not present is the button Profile to change the profile without opening Razer Synapse. On the other hand, the Razer Chroma RGB lighting could not be missing. Another detail to consider is the Speedflex cable (braided type) to avoid tangles.

Razer Viper Mini - Sensor

As for user experience, personally I have not missed more PPP. And it is that unlike the high-end Razer mice that usually have 16,000 PPP or more, Viper Mini stays at 8,500 PPP. When it comes to playing, it's not just a mouse precise and with good accelerationIt also feels very light and comfortable to hand.

Lack of the button Profile To change profiles much faster, it is something that shows if you are used to creating profiles and then change depending on the game. Now this could be a lesser evil since the change can be done using Razer Synapse. Finally, it does not have rubber grips on the sides for a better grip can become a negative point if we play very frenzied games like Doom Eternal.

Razer Synapse

Razer Synapse software allows access to all mouse settings. It has a fairly friendly user interface where everything is at hand. It offers us the possibility to create profiles. This means that we can change the function of each button.

Razer Viper Mini - Sensitivity adjustment

Although you don't need to access Razer Synapse to change the sensitivity, from the software it is possible to deactivate the sensitivity levels and modify the PPPas well as making changes to the polling rate.

No less important is having full control of the lighting. In the lighting section you can adjust brightness intensity, change the effects and much more.

Razer Goliathus Chroma Extended – Bigger is not always better

If in one of the previous analyzes we could see the Razer Goliathus Chroma mat, now it's time to talk about the Extended model. The only difference between both mats is in size. Due to the dimensions it is rolled in a cardboard tube so that it takes up much less space inside the box. Next to the mat we find the user manual and some Razer stickers.

Once we have the mat on the table we can see that it has a considerable size. We are talking about 29.4 x 92 x 0.3 cm, so our table has to be quite wide. This is something very important, you buy this mat as you get a surprise and your table falls short.

Razer Goliathus Extended Chroma is a gaming mat

The upper part has a microtextured surface which improves the precision and movement of the mouse. From the top left comes a 2.1 meter cable that connects to one of the USB ports on our PC. It is not necessary to connect this cable unless you want to activate the Razer Chroma lighting.

In order for the mat to be as fixed as possible on the table, it has a non-slip rubber base. It does its job perfectly, whatever you do it doesn't budge. In addition, one thing must be taken into account, on the mat there is not only the mouse, but also the keyboard.

Razer Goliathus Chroma Extended has Razer Chroma lighting, so Razer Synapse needs to be installed if we want to configure the effects and the brightness. The first time you plug in the mat and open Razer Synapse it asks you to update the software and restart the computer.

Going back to size, I still don't understand why I would need such a wide mat when all I'm looking for is to improve mouse scrolling. You don't need that much surface. Although like other types of users it does find it useful to have a very wide mat. I suppose it will be a matter of taste.

conclusion

Razer Viper Mini is a result, for 49.99 euros it is a very capable mouse. Optical switches and high-precision sensor are noticed. Maybe for some games certain players will need more buttons. It is quite comfortable and we can spend long game sessions as if nothing. By cons, it is a mouse quite small, so not suitable for everyone. It shares many of the characteristics of other mice of the brand that are worth much more. Although Razer has cut in some aspects that we have commented previously, in general terms it offers us everything that the brand announces.

Razer Goliathus Chroma Extended like the standard model improves everything related to precision and mouse movement. Have good finishes and his non-slip base makes the mat completely fixed on the table. Razer Chroma RGB lighting is one more addition that, not surprisingly, neither improves nor worsens the user experience. If RGB lighting is not essential for you you have alternatives from the same manufacturer and many others that are cheaper. And finally, to say that it is huge. From my point of view I can't find the use of such a wide mat. With this I am not saying that it is a negative point, after all each user will have their own opinion about it.
