Rockstar Games wants to continue writing the success story of Red Dead Online and is now decoupling the online part a bit from the main game Red Dead Redemption 2. In the future you can also play Red Dead Online independently.
As the developer confirmed via Rockstar Newswire, Red Dead Online will be available as a standalone game from December 1st. A corresponding game version can be purchased for a manageable fee in the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic Games Store and on Steam.
Even if you want to avoid the original game Red Dead Redemption 2, you can still play Red Dead Online with friends and also secure access to future updates in this way. All special roles as bounty hunters, naturalists, traders, collectors or black markers are of course fully included; There are no restrictions in this regard.
The standalone version of Red Dead Online will also give you access to the story-based co-op missions for up to four players as well as the showdown modes. If you want to get started this way, you can do so until February 15, 2021 at the introductory price of 4.99 dollars. This corresponds to a discount of 75 percent on the regular price that will then apply in the future. PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold are still required on the consoles to play. Red Dead Online requires 123 GB of hard drive space; there is also an option to subsequently unlock the story mode of Red Dead Redemption 2 (for a separate fee).
In addition, the new Bounty Hunters expansion for online mode has been announced. The role of bounty hunter is being expanded and new criminals have to be arrested. As a reward, you can unlock equipment and skills of the “Renowned” level via 10 additional bounty hunter ranks. There is also a new Outlaw Pass with 100 ranks.
As an added bonus, all of the Bounty Hunter missions in Red Dead Online this week will give you Double XP.
