The PC port of the original Red Dead Redemption finally arrived yesterday, October 29, and it looks like it took almost no time for the game to receive the less-than-friendly modding treatment. Cue John Marston’s video of the animation and GTA 6 trailer in Armadillo’s vintage cinema.

Yes, in case you missed it, Rockstar is finally bringing the original Red Dead to the platform this month, after rumors about the game unearthed in multiple places including Rockstar’s launcher and the PlayStation Store , triggering several rounds of rumors.

What happened? Well, so far there’s been a lot of expected nostalgia, uh, a video of John Marston hyping up a trip to Leonida. He also appears in the introduction to Neon Genesis Evangelion. Yes, those two things were definitely around back in the early 1900s, but never mind, John doesn’t seem too phased.

Voice actor Casey Mongillo shared these highlights, seemingly determined to introduce RDR’s protagonist to modern media. They write that the first clip, Johnny Boy’s paid two bucks to watch NGE’s animated intro, is “like a 3-minute mod” and appears to be a fusion of the two projects for which they provide the sound. 2019 re-dubbing of Red Dead and Neon Genesis Evangelion are already on their resume.

They’ve also provided the delightful sounds for many other games and shows, including Shin Megami Tensei V: Revengeance, Starfield, and Delicious in Dungeon.

Mongillo’s motivation for showing Marston the GTA 6 trailer, and for having the cowboy randomly insert lines like “Money can do nothing, can’t it?” lines that I wish had made it into the game, Rather than artificial intelligence nonsense, this seems to be just people on Twitter asking them to do this. Hopefully this means the process of adding new movies like this is as simple as it seems so we can enjoy Marston taking time out to be wowed by random shows while hunting down Bill Williamson and Dutch Vanderlinde clips, and trailers that he would typically miss for about a hundred years or so.

What do you think Johnny Boy needs to put on his watch list for action between shootouts and rodeos? Let us know below!
