Star Wars Eclipse, Quantic Dream’s next game, seems a long way off. A reliable source just announced the release window. Looking forward to the long wait?
The Star Wars license still has a bright future ahead of it in the video game universe. Jedi Survivor was a critical hit and Ubisoft’s game SW Outlaws should also be a good adaptation. And Disney has no intention of stopping. A total of seven games based on George Lucas’ universe are in development, including one entrusted to the French Quantic Dream. That very famous Star Wars eclipse is today the victim of a new one leak.
A distant, very distant Star Wars Eclipse release?
In a galaxy far, far away, Quantic Dream’s next game wouldn’t be the victim of leaks. Shortly before the official announcement, the adaptation was leaked and today its release date is in sight. Sources by Tom Henderson (via insider gaming) have actually struck again. Internally, QD’s French and Quebecers would be aiming for a 2026 release date, but that could be pushed back slightly depending on Star Wars Eclipse’s progress. A scenario that could quickly take shape, especially since the studio would continue to face recruitment difficulties after the many reports surrounding the studio’s working conditions. It must be said that the spectrum of Crunchsexual harassment and toxic culture still exist and the studio has since lost its luster.
In this context, therefore, it seems almost certain Star Wars Eclipse be moved. The game certainly wouldn’t be lacking in ambition, but it would be the last of the seven to be released. As a reminder, it will take place in the High Republic era, roughly two centuries before the events of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
Seven Star Wars games in development
Fans of the license will be able to grab other adaptations while they wait. First up is Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft’s planned open-world game for 2024, which had little success at Summer Game Fest. Amy Hennig, director of Uncharted, is also working on a still mysterious project with her new studio Skydance Media. Respawn Entertainment (SW Jedi Survivor) is also working on an FPS and a strategy game. The Knights of the Old Republic remake is still in the news, although Embracer hasn’t wanted to reassure the community following the latest rumours.
