Uff, 2022 doesn’t start with particularly good news. Stalker 2 (actually Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, but it’s really exhausting to keep typing these points) was originally supposed to be released on April 28, 2022 for PC and Xbox Series X, but unfortunately nothing will come of it. As the developers recently communicated, the release has been delayed by a whopping seven months.
When will Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl be released?
The new release date is December 8, 2022, which is basically the last chance to still be relevant for the Christmas business of the current year. Until then, of course, there should be various updates, trailers and general info beats so that you can stay up to date in some way.
Why is Stalker 2 being postponed?
The GSC Game World team doesn’t go into great detail as to why Stalker 2 should be delayed by so many months, but they do give one reason: the game won’t be finished otherwise. At least not according to the standards that the developers themselves want to apply to their project. The tweet says:
We have decided to postpone the release of Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl to December 8th, 2022. These additional seven months are necessary to fulfill our vision of the game and to reach the production state we are aiming for. Stalker 2 is the biggest project our team has ever tackled, and it requires thorough testing and polish. We believe that developing a game like this should take as long as it needs to take. This decision is not easy for us and we will do our best to bring you a game that lives up to your expectations.
