2020 could be a really extraordinary year for Intel's CPU division. At least if you believe current leaks. According to this, as many as three processor generations for desktop PCs could be launched this year. So did Intel release madness?
Intel Core i 10000
Late May (May 27th to be exact) Intel's Core i 10000 Comet Lake-S processors are to appear, led by the ten-core flagship Core i9 10900K with up to 5.3 GHz Turbo clock (on one core). The product launch is scheduled for April 30th. The Comet Lake chips are based on Intel's aged 14nm process.

Comet Lake-S will be followed by Rocket Lake-S alias Core i 11000 this year, as Videocardz recently reported.
Therefore offer Rocket Lake-S support for PCI Express 4.0 and will also be manufactured in a 14nm process. Probably based on the Willow Cove architecture, which is also used in the Tiger Lake chips for laptops. Nothing is known yet about core numbers and clock rates.
Intel Core i 12000
In the forum of the Chinese website Weibo, user MebiuW recently published two alleged presentation slides (pictures above) with a roadmap from Intel. A temporal overview of the upcoming technology nodes (structure widths) can be seen on one of the slides. Accordingly, the production of 10nm + chips will begin in 2020.
The second slide talks about Alder Lake and the year 2020. MebiuW even speaks explicitly of Alder Lake-S, i.e. processors for desktop PCs. Apart from that and apart from the structure width (10nm) there is no exact information about Alder Lake so far.
How realistic is that?
At first glance, publishing three processor generations in one year does not seem particularly plausible. The same applies to two generations.

Disappointment with Ryzen 4000? New leak
On the other hand, was Intel has recently been put under a lot of pressure by AMD's Ryzen 3000 and it is generally expected that with the Ryzen 4000 AMD will increase this pressure again. There are also problems with the switch to 10nm production, which Intel is likely to want to leave as soon as possible.
Nevertheless, it seems more realistic overall to assume that the 10nm processors for the desktop aka Alder Lake-S will only be launched in the course of 2021.
