This time it is the turn of the first new features of Disney+ for the month of February 2024 to make themselves known. We warn you that the list is quite limited, even with a large license.
As always, we present you with a summary of the new releases on each platform. This time we are interested in the month of February 2024 on the Disney+ platform. Although the list is relatively small, the big-eared American giant still offers the return of a cult franchise and a series particularly appreciated by fans. It is unfortunate, however, that the catalog is not as complete as on the American site. Explanations.
The new Disney + films for February 2024
Unlike Prime Video, which focuses heavily on Valentine’s Day, there’s not really a question of romance on Disney+. Still, we’re treated to some nice surprises, including a brand new short film from Pixar called “Self.” This charming little film tells the story of a young woman confronted with the duality of her identity and inner self. It explores themes of self-reflection and self-acceptance by following his personal journey to find balance between the different facets of his personality. For the first time ever, a Pixar film will be shot in hybrid animation with a mix of stop-motion. For that alone it might be worth a look.
The other upcoming film is Suncoast. This feature film tells the story of Doris (Nico Parker), a teenager whose brother has just been placed in a special facility by their mother Kristin (Laura Linney), a very determined woman. There, Doris forms an unlikely friendship with Paul (Woody Harrelson), an eccentric activist. The film takes a sociological approach to human encounters. Between this and the Pixar short, Disney+ relies on the viewer’s intelligence.
Unfortunately, we are not entitled to the film “The Marvels” which is released on Disney+ in the USA. The French public is always a little behind in this regard.
- Himself (February 2nd)
- Sunny Coast (February 9)
The new series for the month of February 2024
As far as the series goes, there’s a little more to get into. Especially with the release of Genius: MLK/X Season 4, consisting of Episodes 1 and 2. Each season of Genius explores the life and work of a historical figure recognized for his genius. This fourth season focuses on the lives of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X, two activists who fought for the cause of African Americans.
Good news, we think Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is also suitable for the youngest (if you have children or young family members). This series follows the adventures of a group of young Jedi apprentices during the High Republic era. With an approach very aimed at a children’s audience. Adults can console themselves with Star Wars Bad Batch Season 3, where we should find our good old renegade clones after the turbulent adventures of the second season.
Finally, we will have the pleasure of discovering the original FX series SHŌGUN, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by James Clavell. The action of this ten-part miniseries takes place in Japan in the year 1600. It tells the story of John Blackthorne, the English commander of a mysterious ship that was abandoned on the beach of a fishing village. The man carries secrets that could be the deciding factor for Lord Yoshii Toranaga, who wages a life-and-death battle against his enemies in the Council of Regents.
