Following the news that remedial entertainment won’t release Alan Wake 2 physically, THQ Nordic It has been proposed to do so instead.

Last week, following the first gameplay trailer for Alan Wake 2, developer Remedy posted an FAQ in which it stated that the upcoming sequel will only receive digital releases. Given the importance of physical media for preservation, this is obviously a slightly controversial statement. In response, video game publisher THQ Nordic offered to do a physical release of the game, noting how it would technically handle a physical release on PC when the first game was released (which, it should be noted, would have been done through the original THQ ), no longer exists).

“I mean… we made a disc version of Alan Wake for PC back in the day [in case you missed it]’, read a tweet on THQ’s Nordic Twitter account, ending things with a sly wink. “Just because one person (or company) doesn’t like bodies, there are plenty of people who still do. think about it. We’d love to try it again! full circle. THQ Nordic also flagged the Twitter accounts of Alan Wake and Remedy Entertainment, but that’s apparently an informal way of doing things, so who knows if it will have any results.

Remedy explained that Alan Wake 2 chose not to release a physical edition in order to keep the game’s price down — $60 instead of $70. It also noted that many people now play on digital-only consoles, and it doesn’t want to “release a disc product and require a game download” just for that purpose.

Who knows if Remedy will take up THQ Nordic’s offer, after all it still costs money to do something like that, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Alan Wake 2 is scheduled for release on October 17 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
