Remember the Emperor scene in Baldur’s Gate 3? Larian says the tentacle stroking animation started with stroking cookies

What’s your favorite cookie? Rich tea? Bourbon? Brioche? Well, the folks at Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian seem to have a thing for Oreos, so much so that an artist caressing an Oreo cookie in the movie seemed to be referencing the tentacle caressing animation of, er, that scene with you and the Emperor.

You know. You start out just chilling together, and then they do something to your brain that lets you know they’re in a good mood. Then you get close and their breath smells like garlic because they apparently have the same food tastes as Peter Kay. Then you get comfortable with people with tentacles or people without tentacles. Yeah, that’s it.

“As we share some behind-the-scenes footage from the making of Baldur’s Gate 3,” Larian Studios said in a tweet that may stick with you for a long time, “here’s our Senior Cinematic Artist Elodie Cesari stroking a bag of cream biscuits as reference for the tentacle stroking animations for the sex scene with the Emperor.”

There’s an accompanying video below so you can watch the…act… in action. The studio also added a “yes, really” in case you were skeptical that this shocking revelation was true, as it was when I first saw it, and still is, really.

In a subsequent tweet, Larian’s publishing director Michael Douse apologized for all of us receiving this message or exposing what the studio’s developers did while snacking, but it’s unclear which of these circumstances this was.

That’s okay, Michael. We definitely weren’t thinking about weird tentacle sex when we went to grandma’s house and she invited us over for a chat. Did learning this ruin your life? Let us know below, then check out our 10 million Baldur’s Gate 3 guides.
