It's about time again, Splitgate fans, as the sequel to the hit shooter is about to open for playtest sign-ups.

Every once in a while, the shooter will shake up and take off, even though it appears to be coming out of nowhere. Back in 2021, Splitgate launched into an indefinite beta, but it didn't come completely out of nowhere, as the game had already been in early access a few years ago. The following year, when the game was fully launched, developer 1047 Games also announced that they would be halting feature development on the Halo and Portal shooters… as it would be developing the sequel in Unreal Engine 5!

The news was officially announced earlier this year, with a release date set for 2025. Now, as revealed on the game's official Twitter , you can sign up for the game's next playtest.

“Get dressed and ready for more Splitgate 2!” read the tweet announcing the playtest. “The team has been brewing some explosive stuff, and we'd love to hear your feedback.” The sign-up process is simple, just a Google form with a series of questions asking if you've played the first game, what have you played recently of shooters, the platforms you use, and more.

One thing worth noting is that it does require you to provide both Steam and Discord handles, the former probably because that's probably where the test will be taking place, but if you're a particularly privacy-conscious person, maybe you'll have to miss out on this particular one test.

Back in September, our Connor had the opportunity to chat with the CEO of 1047 Games about trying to keep games fresh and trying to learn the right lessons from games like Halo Reach – it's a great read!
