Showtime is continuing its attempts to bring back Dracula with a new prequel series, Original Sin , and its first trailer is finally here.
Dexter may have ended more than a decade ago, but in an age of reboots and intellectual property above all else, there are attempts to bring the once-popular series back into the spotlight. Back in 2022, we saw the sequel series Bloodstained , set 10 years after the events of the original show, and now Paramount and Showtime have released the upcoming prequel series Bloodstained . The first trailer for “Original Sin”. Before you check out the trailer and read further, I should note the spoiler warning at the end of “New Blood,” as the prequel actually seems to be directly tied to the sequel, interestingly enough. You have been warned!
As you can see in the trailer above, several scenes from the end of “New Blood” show Dexter lying in the snow with blood pouring around him after being shot by his son Harrison. While being treated in the hospital, his life seemed to flash before his eyes, and so we got the prequel series. “Set in 1991 Miami, 'Dexter: Original Sin' tells the story of Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he transforms from student to vengeful serial killer,” reads the official plot description. “When his bloodlust can no longer be ignored, Dexter must learn to channel the darkness within him.

“Under the guidance of his father Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a code designed to help him find and kill those who deserve to be cast out of society without attracting the attention of law enforcement. This A special challenge for young Dexter as he begins his forensic internship with the Miami Metro Police Department.”
Michael C. Hall also returns as Dexter in a narration role, and Buffy's Sarah Michelle Gellar even makes a guest appearance. Obviously, we can assume not much will happen in Dexter since it's a prequel, but it could still be a fun romp.
The show could also potentially answer the question of what happened to Dexter at the end of New Blood, as there's another sequel series coming soon called Resurrection – if the prequel ends with Dexter waking up alive End, that's no surprise, okay, but you'll have to wait until December 13 when the show premieres on Paramount+.
