If you have a universal remote control at home, the problem will be solved quickly. Such remote controls are compatible with all common brands and many no-name televisions. All you have to do is set up the remote control for the corresponding device. It only takes a few seconds.
If you don’t have a universal remote control at home, you still don’t necessarily have to go to an electronics store to get one. You can often find such universal remote controls in discount stores and normal supermarkets.

Replacement remote control from the manufacturer
Once you’ve gotten used to the original remote control on your Smart TV, you might want to have it as a replacement device. That is also possible. To do this, simply contact the manufacturer via the respective customer service. Most of the time, they will send you a replacement on request.
For well-known brands such as Samsung, LG or Philips, with a bit of luck you can even find the remote control for your device in your trusted electronics store. If you have the remote control sent to you by the manufacturer, note that this can take a few days.
Remote control app
If your television is from a well-known manufacturer, remote control apps are a very good replacement. With them you have a replacement remote control at hand in seconds. Conveniently, this is your smartphone, which you normally always have to hand anyway.
You can download remote control apps for iOS and Android either from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. The download is usually free. Remote control apps are available for almost all well-known brands, just search for the name of your TV using the store’s search bar.
Once you have found the corresponding app, open it on your smartphone and all the buttons and navigation options on your remote control are available to you. Now you just have to make sure that your smartphone always has enough battery.

Voice control of Smart TVs is a limited replacement. Voice assistants such as Alexa, Google Assistant and Co. are preinstalled on most TVs these days and let you navigate through the settings of your TV using voice commands.
However, since the voice control does not clearly recognize every input and some functions can only be reached with great difficulty or even not at all, this option is more of a temporary solution.

USB input devices (only from selected manufacturers)
Manufacturers like Samsung offer another option. You can connect a wired or wireless keyboard to the TV’s USB port and control your TV using it. We recommend keyboards especially for Smart TVs such as the Rii i8 mini keyboard.
In our opinion, the simplest and most straightforward solutions are remote control apps and universal remotes. A replacement remote control from the manufacturer usually has a fairly long delivery time and the voice control works too imprecisely in places.
