eight years later silent Hill The demo is released for the first time, the person in charge shoots PT Came down from the PSN store to discuss what happened.
We all very much wish we’d seen Hideo Kojima’s take on Silent Hill (and apparently he does too), but unfortunately, we’ll probably never get to see anything other than any PT footage currently online. PT was a very promising demo, and now due to its cancellation, not even anyone who had it at any time could download it. Now, it’s the guy who removed it from PSN talking about this situation.
Pearl L. was Konami’s first-party head at the time of PT’s launch, and has spoken publicly on Twitter about some of the PT’s behind-the-scenes events, although they have since made their accounts private.
“Fun fact: because I am [first-party] At Konami at the time, I helped set this up on storefronts, fake publishers and everything,” Pearl L tweeted (thanks to VGC). “I was the one who had to call Sony and ask them to take it down. and prevent redownloads. That was a very interesting conversation. “
Pearl responded to a commenter asking if the situation was “embarrassing”, saying “embarrassment is right! We’ve gone through a lot of setups and encountered a lot of misoperations. Then add requests to prevent redownloads? More engineering workarounds. It’s exciting to see people hype it up and see the work pay off! But in a way it isn’t either.
Part of the original mystery surrounding PT was that it was said to be developed by a studio called 7780s Studio, a pseudonym set up to hide the fact that it was actually a new Silent Hill game.
The whole situation was incredibly chaotic and apparently led Kojima to leave Konami to set up his own studio, unabashedly named Kojima Manufacturing Co., Ltd.. At least Kojima fulfilled his wish to have Norman Reedus in the game.
