In the recent updates to the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, the ray tracing option was quietly removed from the Steam version of the game.
This caused many players to be confused as to why the option suddenly disappeared. Capcom did not comment at the time as to why ray tracing was removed from either game. Considering the console version of the game retained that option, this led players to apparently speculate that some sort of error occurred, or a mistake was made.
Today, Capcom tweeted via the Resident Evil Twitter account Let the player know that it is aware of this issue and it will be addressed in a future update. The developer didn’t reveal why the issue occurred, but at least confirmed that the ray tracing option — and the missing 3D audio option — will be fixed soon.
To all Resident Evil 2 / Resident Evil 3 users on Steam⚠️
We noticed an ongoing issue where ray tracing options were not appearing in graphics menus and presets. We will fix this issue in a future update, we apologize for the inconvenience! pic.twitter.com/hGkOey65mQ

However, those in the replies to the tweet didn’t seem to care, with many expressing the same sentiment: where are Ada Wong and Albert Wesker? This is a reference to Resident Evil 4 Remake’s mercenary mode, which launched earlier this month, but didn’t have the two iconic characters, much to the disappointment of some fans.
One thing we can all agree on, though, is that Resident Evil 4 Remake is great in its own right. If you were sitting around waiting for the ray tracing option to be added again to the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes on Steam, now is the perfect time to give RE4 a solid chance. I promise it’s worth it!
