Resident Evil 3 Demo Data Mining Reveals Nintendo Switch, eShop Reference

The recently released Resident Evil 3 demo has some weird references to the Nintendo Switch.

Resident Evil 3 Of course, only available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. However, when the editors flipped through the demo file, they found several lines related to the Switch version.

Data miner FluffyQuack was discovered by Rely on Horror and found a set of notification messages that referenced all three confirmed platforms and the Switch. That's the message everyone is familiar with: "This game has an autosave feature, please don't close your (insert platform here)".

In addition, the demo has links to take players to their platforms' respective stores. For example, on PS4, the message appears as "Go to PlayStation Store?". If you played the demo, you'll know that it offers the option to pre-order the full game after completing the game, and this is where the link appears.

All that said, it doesn't make sense why Switch appears on this list. However, there are several ways to explain this. First, assuming that the Switch version is not being actively developed, Capcom may have tried to port the game to Nintendo's platform at some point during the development process, and this is just the remaining code in it.

Another more likely reason for these Switch references is that Capcom is setting up games for future releases through streaming, such as the publisher's previous attempt at Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil 2 Remake doesn't get the same treatment, but Capcom may have decided to stream Resident Evil 3. For reference, this version is only available in Japan.

This is a good addition anyway. Resident Evil 3 will launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 3.
