Resident Evil 4 Remake has only been out for a few days, but players have already found a trick that lets you skip village battles entirely.
Resident Evil games are actually designed for players to speed through levels, encouraging you to learn them from the inside out so you can get as little time as possible – after all, why does it tell you how long it took to play the game time? But it turns out that some of the ways to reduce time are only present in the remaster’s new game enhancement mode, where you can do one specific thing in the village portion of the game. If you haven’t played the game, please be aware of minor spoilers in the following section.
Today I learned that you can skip the opening village battle in Resident Evil 4 Remake by shooting the bell from the roof. A rifle with a scope is obviously easier.
OMG, the detail in this game is outstanding! Thanks to users Sorekasho and Tactical_Banter on Reddit. pic.twitter.com/BVwsQ22qoA

For those who haven’t played the game, in the village part you mostly just have to survive as long as possible before eventually the church bell will ring and the villagers will leave you. Some players seem to have the thought, “What if I ring the bell myself?” It turns out that if you can ring the bell just right, it will actually ring early, allowing you to finish the section early.
It should now be noted that you can only do this if you have a sniper rifle, which is a gun you get later in the game, which is why this can only be done in the new game. It’s a neat little trick, one of a kind “it makes sense,” that makes uncovering secrets in the game so much fun.
While some players have already managed to beat the level, there are many more to look forward to. Resident Evil 4 Remake’s mercenary mode will be released next month on April 7th. Available as a free DLC, the mode will have you facing off against hordes of enemies, trying to fend them off until you die or until the clock ticks.
