Resident Evil 4 Remake makes Chainsaw even more terrifying

Chainsaw, Evil, Remake, Resident, terrifying

when you think Resident Evil 4, probably the first thing that comes to mind are those chainsaw-wielding zombies with burlap potato sacks on their faces. They’re pretty scary, especially when you learn that with a chainsaw you can kill Leon Kennedy with just one sweep.

Alex and I talked about the remake, and what we expect to see next in the series.

Recently, I sat down with the Resident Evil 4 Remake. I didn’t spend too much time playing this game, but I did find myself up close and personal with the Chainsaw Man again. Stepping into that Spanish village again and watching Los Ganados give his life to Los Illuminados, I knew that sooner or later I would come face-to-face with one of the many chainsaw men.

I’m right, just like Leon Kennedy looks more handsome in this remake, the Chainsaw Man I’ve met is scarier.

Chainsaw Man in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Just look at those eyes. He is terrible.

The man who once looked like a straw bag covering his face now looks more like some kind of monster. He still bears resemblance to his counterparts, the villagers infected with the mind-controlling parasites of Las Plagas, dressed in the standard villager attire we’d expect. But the potbellied chainsaw man is a thing of the past here, and I still can’t forget those bejeweled eyes.

Almost as if it came straight out of a movie, the potato sack seemed to blend in with the Chainsaw Man’s face; his eyes were red, jeweled, and, in a way, hungry. While escaping the Chainsaw Man before felt like escaping from another villager who happened to be stronger than the others, now it feels like you’re escaping a damn entity.

When the chainsaw man catches you, it’s game over (unless you’re well-adjusted to using Leon’s new knife), but that’s not a bad thing. Being slaughtered by the Chainsaws in Resident Evil 4 Remake is quite the murderous dessert, and makes me excited to see what the other enemies (i.e. the Chainsaw Sisters) will look like in the future.
