Resident Evil 4 Remake Released today, it’s doing pretty well on Steam even though most people are still working.
According to SteamDB, Resident Evil 4 Remake has 140,240 concurrent users at press time, and we expect that number to grow over the weekend.
Compared to other Resident Evil games on Steam, the remake set a new concurrent record compared to the 106,631 users of the predecessor Resident Evil Village at its peak.
With its release, Resident Evil 4 Remake is currently one of the best-selling games on Steam in the US.
The game is a remake of the 2005 game Resident Evil 4, with redesigned visuals compared to the original to create a more tense atmosphere. It also features a New Game Plus mode, new character designs and backgrounds, and offers six control schemes, one of which is based on the original game.
New to the reforge is the crafting system, where you craft items and ammo using resources you collect. You can still buy items from merchants, who offer new side quests in the reforge.
Another change is Leon’s ability to move and wield a weapon at the same time, use a roundabout kick, and a new parry mechanic for parrying and countering attacks with knives.
Capcom also minimized Quick Time Events, and Leon can carry multiple knives to compensate for the weapon’s durability.
Originally released for the GameCube in 2005, development on the remaster began in 2018 and was officially announced in June at the State of Play presentation.
Reviews of the remake have been consistently positive, and in iGamesNews’s Resident Evil 4 review, Kelsey gave it a perfect score, saying the remake is “improved in every way” and “even the most nostalgic Players will also be pleasantly surprised.”
