Resident Evil is given another adventure on the big screen with a new Film
While the eighth part of the main series will be released in 2021, rumors suggest that Resident Evil 4 will also be reissued. In addition, Netflix is developing two TV series, and is a return to the cinema planned. This film reboot, however, has nothing to do with Paul WS Anderson and Milla Jovovich.

What is the story about? In contrast to the total of six films starring Milla Jovovich, the planned film reboot is said to be a direct adaptation of the first two video games – Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2.
According to the first story details, it should be about the events in 1998, when mysterious incidents occur in the Spencer estate and subsequently also in Raccoon City before the living dead lay an entire city in ruins.
Which actors and characters are performing? In line with the template, the film reboot of Resident Evil features characters that fans already know from video games. The following characters and their actors were introduced via deadline:
- Chris Redfield: Robbie Amell (Upload)
- Jill Valentine: Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp)
- Claire Redfield: Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner)
- Leon S. Kennedy: Avan Jogia (Zombieland 2: Double is better)
- Albert Wesker: Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy)
- William Birkin: Neal McDonough (Yellowstone)
It is not yet known whether other important characters from Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 – such as Rebecca Chambers, Barry Burton or Ada Wong – will appear.

For Resident Evil, Roberts is now promising a “faithful adaptation” of the video games, with which he wants to capture the atmosphere of the first two parts of the series.
Release date: when does Resident Evil start in cinemas? The new Resident Evil film does not have a theatrical release yet. When production will start is also unknown. Given the ongoing corona pandemic, it is hardly surprising that this information is still withheld at the moment. Numerous films and productions are currently being postponed, including the Dune remake.
