Resident Evil Village is the latest entry in Capcom’s prolific survival horror series and will be available on Sony’s PSVR2 at launch. The headset, which will cost more than the PlayStation 5 console itself, will be available at February 22, 2023.
For those of you who already own a copy of Resident Evil Village, you’ll be able to jump into Castle Dimitrescu for free when PSVR2 launches, and the VR mode is essentially free DLC. All you need to do is update your game and voila, you can play the entire campaign in virtual reality.
Capcom producer Tsuyoshi Kanda shared in a PlayStation blog post how PSVR2 will be dedicated to Resident Evil Village. “The vivid graphics of the 4K HDR display (2000×2040 per eye) and eye tracking can enhance the perception of reality,” Kanda shared.
“3D audio enhances the realism of the audio from every angle and enhances your sense of touch with the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers. With one controller in each hand, you can feel the to vibration, recoil and drag.”
The PSVR2’s Sense controllers also let you perform intuitive actions, such as using your arms to guard and being able to hold your gun up in front of you to fire. You can physically reload your gun, use your knife, and use both hands independently… which means dual wielding weapons. I find it very interesting.
Resident Evil Village’s PSVR2 and VR mode update is coming in February 2023, but keep in mind you’ll need to own the game to download and play the free DLC.
Will you pick up PSVR2 and try Village when it launches? Or, have you tried Resident Evil Village in VR, thanks to modder Praydog?
