In a strong moment, a moment when he’s as real as I am, rebirth Chief executive Vince Zampella says he’d “love” to see Titan Case 3 bite.
I’m not the big shooter type of player. They’re just not for me unless they’re doing something fun like Titanfall 2, and yes, everyone’s right: that’s a damn good video game. Personally, I’m no longer looking for Titanfall multiplayer since I’ve never played the online portion, but I’d love a third game, just for the story. The only problem is, Titanfall 2 didn’t do well, while Apex Legends did very well – so why on earth is Respawn’s CEO giving me hope?
Zampella recently spoke with Barron’s (via PCGamer), where he talked about a potential Titanfall 3, and didn’t say no outright. “I hate saying yes, and then people grab it and string you when it doesn’t,” Zampella said, “but I’d love to see it happen as the real answer.” Of course, he did point out that Respawn doesn’t “currently is doing anything,” and there is no “exact plan specifically for that.”
According to Zampella, “It has to be the right thing…it’s a franchise that fans love and that we love. If it’s not at the right time, with the right idea, then it doesn’t make sense.” Interestingly enough, Respawn clearly doesn’t want to confuse Apex Legends fans right now (the game is set in the same universe as Titanfall). “How do you do something that doesn’t confuse Apex fans, but not necessarily Titanfall fans,” Zampella said. “That’s a hard question to answer.” These days, weird reasoning abounds considering shared universes, but okay, I get it, game development is hard.
Respawn’s biggest problem right now is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, as the developer had to apologize for its performance on PC.
