The restart function of Sky Q allows you to jump to the beginning of a current program. To do this, you just need to call up the program information using the remote control. However, the restart function is not available for all Sky content.
What is the restart function of Sky Q?
With Sky Q’s restart function, you can return to the beginning of a Sky broadcast while it’s running. This is ideal if you come home late from work and have missed the start of your favorite show. You can use the feature for both series and films in the live program.
To use the restart function, all you have to do is call up the current program that you want to watch from the beginning. Now press the info button on your Sky Q remote control. As soon as the message “Start from the beginning” appears on the screen, press “OK”.
A notice: When you use the restart function, you will notice that it does not apply to all films and shows. This is because the feature is only available for channels offered by Sky and for content listed on “Sky on Demand”.
Restart function vs. Timeshift: The differences
With the ability to rewind the current program, many Sky viewers confuse the Restart function with the Timeshift feature. However, there is a big difference between the two functions.
The timeshift function, also known as time-shifted television, temporarily records 60 minutes of the current program. This allows you to pause the program and rewind and fast forward.
However, to use the timeshift feature, you must already be watching the show. Otherwise, you can only rewind to the point where you started streaming.
The Restart function, on the other hand, allows you to restart a current program. This is not limited to the last 60 minutes of the show. Likewise, you do not have to stream the program first to be able to rewind it.
