With the 1.3.3 patch, Housemarque had laid quite an egg in the Returnal nest. The fix is now available, but not all game saves can be saved.
The recently implemented Returnal patch 1.3.3 was quite a disaster and was withdrawn shortly after its release, as in some cases it could corrupt game statuses after an error message and thus destroy the progress of the game.
In the meantime, the developers have pushed the update 1.3.4, which by and large contains the status of version 1.3.1 along with some fixes for trophies and a keyboard exploit. From now on you can continue to gamble without worries.
For those who struggled with their score, there is at least some good news. Saved games that have been corrupted but kept their file size can now be used without any problems. Games, whose file size is at 0KB, are completely for the bin. Here you only have the chance to use a backup game from PS +. If this is intact, you can continue playing without any problems.
However, if the cloud game was overwritten by the defective savegame, your game progress will be irretrievably lost. Another patch with the version number 1.3.5 should follow shortly.
