The Battlefield community is longing for the past. In this case, absurdly, this means that they also w ant to “go back to the future”, because apparently some of them have had enough of the World War II scenario. With Battlefield 5, they still don't want to make friends. Instead, the next part is now being considered.
When asked what this can do better, the answer is currently clear to many: to be more like Battlefield 4. Threads dealing with Battlefield 4 are now popping up on Reddit. In addition, some of the biggest Youtubers like Jackfrags are switching back to the multiplayer shooter from 2013.
It should come as no surprise that DICE has just announced that it is slowly saying goodbye to Battlefield 5:

What exactly do the fans want now?
Why the Battlefield community is so dissatisfied has been discussed several times. Although the game actually got a good release, couldn't get a foothold as a service game. The content machinery was in the sand and if an update came, bugs were either caused or changes were made that the fans were not at all satisfied with.
Another thought resonates in the desire for Battlefield 4. As the Youtuber Westie explains in a video, Battlefield 5 and its predecessor Battlefield 1 are also lagging behind in other areas. The maps in particular are said to have been increasingly narrowed. Either through closer conquest points or winding house canyons.
Battlefield 4 felt significantly bigger at the time, according to Westie. The Youtuber is also longing for better upgrade options for the individual weapons. Battlefield had to cut back here due to the historical setting. A fate that the mods share with the helicopters, which the user TheRealTormDK mourns in a thread about BF4:
"Yes, I miss the helicopters and commander options in BF1 and BFV. Maybe we'll see that again if the next part plays in Vietnam. Maybe they'll surprise us with a remaster of BF 2 Modern Combat."
What is really planned for Battlefield next is still in the stars. So far it is only known that a next part will not appear before autumn 2021.
