It has been almost nine years since Fallout 4 was released. It was announced at E3 2015 and on November 10 of the same year it arrived on our consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) and PC. I had played Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but then I didn’t have as much experience in the franchise as I do now. Still, the fourth installment of the franchise became one of my favorite releases of the year. And The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released a few months earlier.
I couldn’t say how many hours I spent then wandering through the wasteland of Fallout 4, but I’m sure it’s around 300-400 hours without problems. Not just completing the main story and many side quests, but trying to find all the locations and dominate the Shining Sea. If you are a veteran, you already know that nightmare. If you’re just starting out, I’ll just tell you that you’re going to have a lot of fun when you’re able to equip yourself to spend more than five minutes inside.

Unlocking more memories than trophies in Fallout 4
Dust off my physical edition of Fallout 4 It has been very exciting, but not as exciting as starting the PS5 version to find the first whack of nostalgia: the iconic menu with the franchise’s Soundtrack. There are few menus that have remained as embedded in my mind as this one. It is impossible to forget the imposing Power Armor in the Red Rocket workshop.
After reviewing the settings and checking that I have everything I need (water, nuts…), I start a new game and come across the second hit of nostalgia: the intro of Fallout 4. Many fans prefer the intro of Fallout 3 because it has the imposing voice of José Fernández Mediavilla, but I still think this is one of the best I have seen in a video game. Of course, Mediavilla’s voice would have made it perfect.

The biggest influence of Dragon Ball is a manga published a year before Goku and Bulma’s journey, and was drawn by Akira Toriyama himself.
I’m afraid. For me. For my wife. For my child. Because if my time in the army taught me anything, it is that war… war never changes.
The first stages of the game did not have much surprise because I had recently prepared an article about a reference to Fallout 76. Regarding the statistics of SPECIAL, I have always prioritized Strength, Stamina and Agility to have a character prepared for combat, but one changes over the years. This time, the 21 available points were distributed as follows:
It is clear that this character is very far from dominating combat and having a formidable physique. Perhaps I should have removed some points of Intelligence to add them to Luck so that it would be something more similar to the image I have of myself. In any case, I think this is the most satisfied I have ever been when creating a character. In fact, I have a similar build in Fallout 76.
If I’m honest, I still have the same problem as years ago with the start of Fallout 4: I don’t have enough reason (or time) to feel empathy for the kid, so I’m not too affected by what happens to him after the bombs fall. I can’t say the same about my wife’s fate. That touches my morale.
Coming out of the vault in any Fallout is an epic, iconic moment, and Bethesda did an incredible job creating the scene in Fallout 4. Beyond my impression and the excitement of reliving it, a thought came to me: there is a loading screen to leave the shelter and enter the world. Then I remembered that one of the many complaints about Fallout 76 was the happy loading screen when leaving Vault 76. “What crazy things have been said about the game,” I thought.
Seeing Sanctuary again was a beautiful moment and full of memories, because I have spent dozens of hours remodeling the place in my multiple games. I’ve done some really crazy things there, but this time I have plans to ditch the huge buildings and create a more functional and organized settlement. I let Codsworth look for my family, but I know they’re not there.
After almost 40 minutes clearing the development for weapons, ammo, clothing and scrap metal, I cross the wooden bridge and arrive at a place that I can only describe with one word: home. The Red Rocket Truck Stop It has been my favorite location Fallout 4 during these nine years. I know there are better ones, but none have taken up so much of my time.
I am not exaggerating when I say that I have invested hundreds of hours of my life in improving that gas station. I’ve done everything from turning it into a fortress with walls and turrets to building a kind of Moving Castle in the upper area, next to the big rocket. It is a beautiful location and I would pay whatever it takes for a DLC that would allow the structure to be restored. In fact, I’ve been after the Red Rocket Garage in Fallout 76
The moment he longed for arrived: the skirmish at Concord. There I rediscovered that I love the gunplay of the Fallout franchise, especially Fallout 4, even though I know people close to me (whose criteria I respect) who think it’s terrible. I agree to disagree with them. I move down the street, trying to get headshots. The feeling of being at home was very intense. And speaking of shooting, I plan to specialize my character in the use of guns.
I continued moving down the street until I was free of all the looters. Good old Preston Garvey, scourge of my patience, told me to take the Laser Musket and enter the building to help. And here’s a confession: he had never used that weapon before. I’ve always left him on the ground. A friend recommended me to give it a try… What cookies the bastard makes!
We will agree that the first epic moment of Fallout 4 It comes when we put on the Power Armor from the roof, grab the machine gun and jump out onto the street as if we were Iron Man himself. And that’s what I did! I put all the looters through the meat grinder, but I tried to save ammo because I knew very well what appeared at the end of the street.
A negative aspect of Fallout 76 It’s that it has desensitized us to all the creatures in Fallout. We kill huge winged beasts like a candy, and the Deathclaws have become a mere nuisance that we brush off like a fly in the middle of summer. But the thing in Fallout 4 It’s different.

Suicide Squad has given me back all the terror I have instilled as Batman over 15 years and it could have been much worse
I pulled the trigger on the machine gun and aimed at his head as the bastard ran towards me. I was confident…until he did his grappling attack on me and popped the left arm of the Power Armor. It was a moment of genuine rediscovery because Fallout 4 He made his threat very clear: cockiness for Appalachia. Here a Deathclaw is a force of nature. A nervous chuckle escaped me as I killed him. I felt very happy to relive this moment.
I would like to say that the next two or three hours were exciting in the face of this narrative. The truth is that telling them would be somewhat soporific and, as a former teacher told me, you have to know when to shut up to be interesting. I returned to Sanctuary with the survivors to provide them with food, water and beds, and finally looted everything I could from the development to collect scrap metal. I didn’t leave a single branch or piece of metal unscraped.
I finished the robbery at 1:30 in the morning (Thursday to Friday night) and decided that was enough Fallout 4 for the moment and to tell you how wonderful it has been to take my first steps (again) in a video game that gave me so many hours of fun and happiness years ago. Who was going to tell me in 2015 that nine years later (2024) I would still enjoy this gem as much as I did then? I’ll probably be binging like crazy when this is posted. I hope you are enjoying it at least half as much as I do, although I wish you much more.
