A large open world playground that combines many different disciplines, Cavaliers Republic It’s a game that doesn’t take yourself too seriously. It puts fun in the first place and lets you decide how and what you want to improve.
Riders Republic starts with a multisport competition at the beginning as a trailer for your expectations of the game. It is high octane, fast and crazy, once you configure the controls, you will see the central area of Riders Ridge.
You will meet two very enthusiastic characters who will be your guides for the rest of the game (by the way, they are very annoying and remind me of the “how do you be other kids” meme). These two take you to visit the ridge and explain how to participate in all activities, buy new equipment and learn new skills. Then the world is your oyster, you can do whatever you want.
When you participate in events all over the world, an important enduring goal is always to get more stars. This is the main form of your progress, and it hasn’t really changed my view. More events are unlocked at certain star thresholds and have risen to 7000, which is the last milestone in the process. It is very easy to understand and provides you with some work to do.
I like how you choose and focus on the sport and career path you want to engage in. I personally prefer cycling and rocket suit events, because sprints and accelerometers allow you to get explosive speeds. I just feel that I have more control over what I am doing, rather than some snowboarding and snowboarding events.
When I first started playing games, one of my biggest concerns was replayability. How many times can I roll down the mountain without getting bored? I am happy to say that due to the challenge of the event, this is not the case at all. The challenge rewards the stars after completing the challenge. The harder the challenge, the more stars it provides, and each event provides three. I don’t know what it is, but collecting stars is a big motivation for me. It makes me repeat the same event up to 10 times just to get a certain skill challenge and get first place at a certain time or place. When I finally did, it was the instant gratification that made me want to continue and collect more. So in a huge amount of activities, even if there is only one, it can go a long way.
The track and huge open world it helps you to traverse in the car are great. The views and environments are very detailed and rarely the same, sometimes making me feel like I’m solving a puzzle trying to pass them instead of completing a game. Different biomes can maintain the freshness well: forests, snow, deserts and their mixtures. It feels like a playground. This is a hurried wing suit-glide through a narrow canyon at 100 mph and see the AI just kayaking under you at will, or flying down a steep hill, hitting the slope and deploying rockets The advancing wing suit flies over the dense forest, weaves among the trees, and then converts back to the snowboard.
These moments make the game fun and balanced. Really not feel silly, but fantasized to make you fly hundreds of feet, do a 1080-degree spin, rotate the handlebars, tail whip, triple back somersault, go to make a cup of tea, come back and land as if gravitation does not exist. The balance of fun and control is a plus in my book.
However, there are other factors that can affect these controls. When you go out to complete the activity and get all the sweet stars, you will also unlock new equipment. I have two views on how Ubisoft handles the purchase of new bikes, snowboards, rocket suits and other equipment. On the one hand, I like its simplicity. All equipment has a gear score. Generally, the higher the score, the better the gear, right? So I think I never hesitate to press the upgrade button, or even look at statistics or how it affects my control of my bike or snowboard. 95% of the time is “I want a big bike!” So far, this has proven successful. It’s very simple, I don’t need to pay too much attention to it, and I can focus on having fun in the activity.
On the other hand, I am a big fan of predator-style games, Think Destiny 2, Borderlands, The Division, and some of my people hope that Riders Republic will have more equipment customization. Almost all Ubisoft’s new games are moving in this direction. Equipment is very important. In Far Cry 6 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, I think they should try harder to borrow equipment in the Cavaliers Republic.
Why are there no fringe benefits on the equipment? They don’t have to be wild, even if the privilege of wild fits the theme of the game. Imagine a set of equipment that can make you a perfect landing in a game, or forgive you for missing a checkpoint, or like the ultimate equipment that allows you to get double points in 5 seconds.
The possibilities are endless. This won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I would love to see what that version of the Republic of Knights will look like, or at least let me change the color of my equipment, you know.
In addition, for now, the equipment selection is a bit bad. All the good stuff is behind the paywall, so I have all these in-game currencies that I don’t spend.
Looking back at the activities, the types and styles of activities here are impressive. In order to get a more linear experience to test your speed and reaction time, the standard first to complete the game is for you. If you want to exercise and master techniques, skills and stunts are my personal favorites. If you want to laugh, the Shak Daddy Bandit event will bring you a smile 100% because it will put you in some stupid scenes. Or combine all these scenes with multi-sport competitions. Everyone has something to enjoy.
One of the biggest selling points on paper is the mass competition of the game. These 64-person multi-part, multi-sport events were great for the first few times you participated, but not so good afterwards. The awe for it quickly disappeared because it was too messy. 64 players collide with each other, which is not fun at all, and there is no level-based matching, so you can face people with better and faster equipment.
I often find myself hoping that starting from the front of the backpack, with my fingers crossed, the faster rider will be knocked off the track or get into trouble by missing the checkpoint, and have to waste time and have to look back. The concept of large-scale race is amazing. It reminds me of the game “Fall Guys”, but currently its problems are too prominent for me. I would rather challenge or explore the map myself to find collectibles.
In addition, in terms of the situation at the time of this review, it seems that the player group is already working hard to fill in other matching events, such as Trick Battles and Free For All events, which is a shame, because they are fun, but you need to wait for the one you originally intended to play I queued for 15 minutes at about an hour, and I was very upset.
It’s a bit like a double-edged sword, because one of Riders Republic’s greatest strengths is that it’s easy to get started and play for 30 minutes or an hour-having fun and feeling like you’ve done something.
Should you buy or play the Cavaliers Republic? Absolutely. Lots of activities and events keep you busy, which is very interesting and can be very challenging as you increase the difficulty. If you prefer to relax and explore the world, there is even Zen mode.
It will definitely make you smile and laugh because of how stupid it can sometimes become, make you feel fulfilled and satisfied when you complete your goals, and make you want to throw your controller out the window when you can ‘No matter how hard you try, you can’t seem to win the game. Just don’t expect too much from the mass competition.
