The smart ring from RingConn is now available in a new, improved version. Find out how the new RingConn Gen 2 differs from the old RingConn Gen 1 here.
- Compared to its predecessor, the RingConn Gen 2 has not undergone any fundamental development.
- However, there are new features – including AI sleep tracking that can detect sleep apnea.
- In addition, the ring has become thinner, although the battery lasts longer than its predecessor.
Smart rings are definitely one of the most important trends in wearable devices right now. After a major manufacturer, Samsung, released its first version of the wearable health device in recent weeks, devices from some smaller manufacturers are already entering the second round. This includes the RingConn from the company of the same name. The campaign for the new RingConn Gen 2 is currently running on Kickstarter. You can find out how it differs from the previous model here.
Design and size
There are only small differences in the design of the two devices. Both rings are made of a metal surface that is coated with titanium, making it particularly durable. In all three color variants of the RingConn Gen 1, this surface is matt and has a small, shiny polished edge on both sides. The black version of the RingConn 2 is also matt – but the gold and silver rings are shiny polished all around.
The size has also changed. While the RingConn Gen 1 is around 7.8 millimeters wide and 2.6 mm thick, the new model has been made slimmer. The RingConn Gen 2 now measures just 6.8 millimeters wide and is only 2 mm thick – making it one of the slimmest smart rings on the market. In addition, the new ring weighs just two grams, while the old model weighed three to five grams depending on the size.
Features and equipment
There are not too many differences in the features of the two smart rings. Basically, both devices are similarly equipped smart rings that can track and evaluate all important health data such as heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, stress level or sleep, so that you always have a precise overview of your current state of health.
The new RingConn Gen 2 does, however, bring one important improvement. Sleep tracking has been greatly improved and, thanks to the use of new AI features – as is the case in 2024 – can provide even more accurate results on your sleep quality. Part of this sleep tracking update is also the ability to detect sleep apnea. For many people, this disease goes undetected and causes various complaints – so it is practical to have a device that warns about it.
The third big difference between the RingConn Gen 1 and the RingConn Gen 2 is the battery life. This has been significantly improved in the new model. Depending on usage, the RingConn Gen 2 can be used for up to twelve days without recharging, while the RingConn Gen 1’s battery life limit was significantly lower at seven days.
Price and availability
The RingConn Gen 1 is already now at Amazon for 285 dollars The RingConn Gen 2 will be available for $299, or about $270, after the Kickstarter campaign ends.
