It has been known for some time that Riot Games is working on a fighting game spin-off for League of Legends. This previously ran under the working title Project L, but now the final name, 2XKO, has been determined – as well as a rough release period.
Project L has been in the works at Riot Games for some time now. This is a fighting game spin-off of the successful MOBA League of Legends, which relies on a tag team-based 2v2 mode. Today the developer has now revealed further details.
The working title Project L has now been dropped and the final name of the title, 2XKO, has been made public. Under this name, the beat’em-up is expected to be available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and the PC in 2025. The platforms and a rough release period have also been determined for the first time.
Riot Games now wants to gradually announce further information via its own social media channels on the platforms X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. There you can expect insights into further development, but also provide your own feedback, which Riot Games will evaluate and incorporate.
At release, 2XKO will be a free-to-play tag team fighting game set in a novel interpretation of Runeterra. You can then choose from iconic characters from League of Legends, the first of which you can already recognize in the two key arts that have also been published. The control of the title should be accessible and enable a quick start. The title will also have an option that allows you to play together in a team against two other opponents in duo play.
As development continues, there will be various playtests for which you can register. A public demo version of 2XKO is also planned. Further details can be expected from Evo Japan in April this year.
