Are you eager to return to 2XKO? Did you miss it the first time and want to try it with a fresh look and eagerness? Well, there’s some good news! According to an official post from 2XKO game director Shaun Rivera, The team aims for a second Alpha lab test in spring 2025.
You can read the full article on Twitter now, and Rivera says this playtest will be taking place in more regions than the first one, which should be good news for those who weren’t able to attend initially. Additionally, it will implement some key changes. That includes Jinx, who just received her own gameplay trailer today, along with gameplay changes including improved controls and reduced downtime.

Obviously, this is good news. While 2XKO’s Alpha Lab testing was overly successful (as seen in Rivera’s post), players did leave some feedback on the game during the experience. And, with the game absent from Worlds 2024, we haven’t had a chance to see if that feedback has been implemented. It looks like our first chance to really find out will come early next year. It’s also worth noting that if you have access to the first Alpha Lab test, you don’t need to register for the next one.
Since the game has a release date of 2025, the anticipated Alpha Lab testing also makes me wonder how big an overall package 2XKO will be at launch. Including Jinx, there are seven in total. At the rate they are being revealed and added to the game, what will 2XKO’s total number of characters be at 1.0?
My bet is 10. You want an even number of characters for 2v2 fighters, and at the rate we’re seeing, a 10th character should be released sometime in the second half of next year. Or maybe I’m totally wrong and Team 2XKO surpasses it. That’s the great thing about this bet, even if I lose I’ll be smiling. It will be richer with more characters.
