Juan Joya Borja – aka Risitas – had been in the hospital for several months. Despite being mobilized to help him, the Sevillian died yesterday at the age of 65.
A few weeks ago we told you that the Cutface initiative had raised more than 14,000 dollars thanks to crowdfunding to help Juan Joya Borja. In fact, the Spaniard had to undergo a leg amputation following vascular problems. The prize pool had paid for his hospital treatment, offered him an electric wheelchair, and part of the amount had been paid to him.
The man died yesterday at the age of 65, a death that affected a large part of the online community, particularly in France.

As a reminder, the man had gained international fame after this excerpt from a television show in which he told an anecdote from his time as a diver in a restaurant that went viral thanks to his very contagious laugh. The famous “ISSOU” that we could find everywhere, starting on our forums.
The man had promised to come to France to thank those who had entered the Cutface jackpot. Unfortunately, Juan Joya Borja will not have the opportunity to do so. Our thoughts go to his loved ones and to all who were moved by his disappearance.
