WayForward released a new trailer for the upcoming beat-em-up River City Girls 2 In the latest independent world live broadcast, the returned content and new content in the game were displayed, and the scope of the summer 2022 release was narrowed.
Before the trailer, director Bannon Rudis and producer Colleen Fanning talked about their experience in the River City series and their excitement about starting this new game. “Since the emergence of the Nintendo Entertainment System, I have been a fan of River City,” Rudis said. Fanning also revealed that the game will have an online cooperation mode.
The trailer itself shows the same pixelated brawl that made the first game so great, as well as some new moves that Misako and Kyoko can use, as well as their boyfriends Kunio and Ricky acting alongside new characters Marian and Provi. All the actions are accompanied by a song by Megan McDuffy, the composer of the killer soundtrack for the first game.
As early as October, we saw this game for the first time in the trailer of the Tokyo Game Show, and it still looks great in this new trailer. Adding more content that made the first game so great is expected, but considering that the derivative series is already very functional, it’s a wise move. New characters and actions, as well as branch paths and similar atmospheres, seem to be the secret of success.
River City Girls 2 will be released in the summer of 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
