Rockstar Games is one of the largest and most important developers in the game industry, after all, the studio is responsible for the immensely successful GTA series. Accordingly, there is now a sensation that one of the co-founders has now opened his own new studio.
Dan Houser was once one of the most important minds at cult developer Rockstar Games, after all he co-founded the studio in 1998 with his brother Sam Houser, Terry D onovan and Jamie King. In his leading position, he played a key role in the development of the successful brands Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption.
In March of last year, Dan Houser finally turned his back on Rockstar Games. Publisher Take-Two, to which Rockstar Games belonged, spoke of an “extended break” that he would take after completing his work on Red Dead Redemption 2. A return to Rockstar now seems to be off the table for good.
Background: In the British company register, the Companies House, a new developer studio appeared on June 23rd. This is called Absurd Ventures and, according to the official description, deals with software development and interactive entertainment. Dan House is listed as General Manager, Producer and Creative Director for this new studio.
House also apparently founded Absurd Ventures LLC and Absurd Ventures in Games LLC in February in the USA. These two companies are based in Delaware, while the British company is based in Cheshire. There does not seem to be an active development team at any of the addresses so far, so it will be interesting to see what House plans to do with the new development studio. We will keep you up to date!
