If the images from the stre aming series aren’t running smoothly on your Roku player, but are stuttering and jerking strangely, you might be able to fix this with a few settings.
Most people are familiar with it: a Netflix stream doesn’t run smoothly across the screen, with longer tracking shots it really seems like a stumble. This jerking is actually not caused by a weak WLAN connection, but has another cause: Since Roku players output content with a refresh rate of 60 Hertz and just as many frames per second by default, a strange stuttering picture can occur, especially with films.
Films shot for the cinema only have 24 to 30 hertz/frames per second in their native format and a higher playback frame rate leads either to short still images or intermediately calculated images – neither of which is usually the best thing.
Netzwelt explains step by step how to set your Roku player so that content is always played back at the native refresh rate.
