Will the RTX 4070 Ti empty your pockets?
With the announcement of the RTX 4080 12 GB, Nvidia had done itself a disservice. When the graphics card was announced together with its larger siblings RTX 4080 16 GB and RTX 4090 in September, the echo was quite unanimous: the card was too expensive and had the wrong name.
Nvidia drew the right conclusions and initially took the card off the market. But a short time later it sounded from the rumor mill: The canceled graphics card would come back on January 5th as the RTX 4070 Ti.
Many players hoped that Nvidia would not only give the card a new name, but also change the RRPs of 900 US dollars or 1100 dollars. However, the first dealer prices of the card, which has not yet been officially presented, already suggest that this is more likely to turn out to be a castle in the air.

Chinese pre-order prices: No cheaper card?
Because how Videocardz reported, several Chinese retailers are already listing the RTX 4070 Ti as pre-order offers. A total of ten custom models of the RTX 4070 Ti can already be found.

If you convert the yuan prices for the graphics cards directly into dollars, you will be pleased at first glance. 7199 yuan, the price for the cheapest custom models, is only around 970 dollars. But caution is advised here.
Because the prices for different markets can sometimes differ drastically – a one-to-one conversion only makes sense in very few cases. And if you compare the Chinese RRP of the RTX 4080 12 GB with the pre-order prices, it becomes clear: Apparently nothing has changed here. Because the RTX 4080 12 GB should have appeared in the Founders Edition for 7200 RMB.
These signs currently leave little hope that the RTX 4070 Ti will appear at a drastically lower price. Of course, an official release price is still pending, so Nvidia could surprise us positively here.
Serbian trader drives prices up
The premature offer from a Serbian hardware dealer is even significantly higher. The user /r/CouncilorIrissa shared a post on Redditaccording to which the dealer ignored the pending announcement of Nvidia’s new card and was already offering the RTX 4070 Ti in his shop.

The desired price was 154.999 Serbian dinars, which corresponds to about 1320 dollars. This means that the RTX 4070 Ti would be priced almost at the RRP of the RTX 4080 16 GB at a European dealer.
However, with a premature offer like that of the Serbian retailer, it is common for the opportunity to strike before the release to be paid for properly. The RTX 4070 Ti will most likely not appear at such a high price.
But what about the performance of the RTX 4070 Ti? Of course, official test results are still pending, but first leaks at least let us know what to expect from the resurrected card.
