Rumor has it that Sony and PlayStation will finally announce Project Spartacus later this week — which is said to be Sony’s answer to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass.
If the rumors are true, the service is said to be somewhere in between PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, and will likely be revealed sometime this week. It will reportedly debut with a lineup of “hit games of recent years” with multiple tiers, offering the most expensive expansion demos and the ability to stream games.
And Greg Miller tweeted last night, Hint it’s going to be a big week Available for Sony and PlayStation.
But forget all that. Because some other important information caught our attention this week: Sony officially trademarked Knack in Japan.
Trademarks – originally created by Golden Pine – Submitted in Japan on March 19.
The list is for the term Knack only, so at the time of writing it’s unclear if we’ll get some sort of retouched PS5 collection of games so far, new titles, reboots, or something else entirely.
Knack was originally developed by Sony’s Japan Studio, which was removed from Sony’s studio list on its website in the summer of 2021. There were reports that the studio had also closed before that.
So, if we’re staring at the barrel of a brand new Knack game, who’s going to develop it? Well, the Japanese studio merged into the Asobi team (the people behind the wildly popular Astro Bot game) in 2021…so we could see the studio’s staff turning their hands on what could become PlayStation mascot.
So what could be an impressive week for Sony – a new platform that offers users games and Knack-related content all at once? We are spoiled.
