The Rust developers Facepunch were literally hot. The effects of this will also be felt by players in the EU – in the form of data loss.
Rust fans should actually have reason to be pleased after the confirmation of the console version that will be released this spring. But mourning is more the trend at the moment. In the event of a severe fire in the OVH data center in Strasbourg, a whopping 25 servers were lost. The fire destroyed an entire building at the facility, and another was damaged. The fire brigade was on site quickly, but one building could no longer be saved. The good news: no one was harmed, and all employees were able to leave the building on time.
The failure of the 25 servers also means a complete loss of data from these servers. The whole thing is less of a problem in that the progress of the players is deleted every month anyway. According to the developer, the data cannot be restored. Community servers with their own rule sets may also be affected.
