Somebody’s cooking a moose: The indie game Sons of the Forest is a real hit on Steam, with sales in the millions.
The champagne corks are popping at developer Endnight Games: Sons of the Forest is a sales success, see the first numbers extremely impressive out of. Accordingly, the survival game found more buyers shortly after its release on Steam than many an AAA flop.
Like the developers announced on Twitterattacked in the first 24 hours since the Early Access version was released over two million players to Sons of the Forest. At a price of just under 29 dollars, everyone can calculate what this number of copies sold means in terms of financial proceeds.

If not, we’ve done it for you: Sons of the Forest has it in no time 59 million dollars turnover generated. Of course, all sorts of costs are deducted from this, including 30 percent of Valve’s online platform Steam. In the end, there should still be a pretty little sum left over, which should secure the further development of the survival game.

The success on Steam is not surprising when you look at it the other great numbers to Sons of the Forest. The launch record for simultaneously active players from February 23, 2023 has now been surpassed again; 411,999 players roamed the virtual forests of developer Endnight Games at the top.
The counter for the “very positive” Steam reviews now stands at almost 39,000 user opinions. At times, more than 769,000 viewers watched the survival game on Twitch. So Sons of the Forest Early Access launch is by any metric a huge success.
The developers still want six to eight months for the the final Release Take your time, the roadmap mainly promises new items and buildings to be built, but also more game mechanics and more story elements. However, if you want, you can play through the game right now.
