- With the Galaxy Ring, Samsung has launched a smart ring.
- But you shouldn’t wear it on your ring finger.
- Due to the integrated gesture control, the manufacturer recommends using the index finger.
Which finger would you put a smart ring on? Probably the ring finger. The name says it all. But according to US media, Samsung advises against wearing the Galaxy Ring on this finger. Although this is possible in principle, the South Korean manufacturer recommends putting the ring on the index finger instead. In all of the company’s press photos, models are wearing the wearable on this finger.
As the US online magazine Cnet reported, Samsung justifies this with the integrated gesture control. You can use this to trigger the camera on your phone or turn off an alarm, for example. The feature works best when wearing the ring on your index finger. Apparently Samsung used this as a reference when developing the function.

Samsung may also want to use this recommendation to prevent you from wearing the Galaxy Ring on the same finger as your wedding ring, for example, which could lead to unforeseen problems. The Galaxy Ring cannot replace a wedding ring, by the way. Samsung does not offer you the option of having the smart ring engraved.
No matter which finger you choose, you should definitely take your time and determine your correct ring size. There are various methods for this. Samsung, for example, offers a free trial set. You should wear the trial ring on the desired finger for at least 24 hours to check whether it really fits and whether there are any problems in everyday life.
