With the optional battery protection, Samsung cell phones offer a practical feature for extending the battery life. We reveal how the feature works.
Galaxy cell phones from Samsung are very popular because of their good workmanship, well thought-out features and high performance. In terms of battery life, however, Samsung smartphones do not usually belong to the top group.
With the battery protection available on Galaxy cell phones, Samsung does at least offer a feature for limiting the maximum charge. If the battery protection is activated, the Galaxy device is only charged up to a maximum of 85 percent. Then the charging process s tops automatically.
The reason behind this is that rechargeable batteries age faster when the cells installed in them have higher voltages. And the cell voltage increases continuously with the state of charge. A charge of 50 to 80 percent is considered to be the ideal charging range. Heavy discharging also reduces the battery life.
The battery protection of Galaxy cell phones is only slightly higher at 85 percent and represents a reasonable compromise. Because the less the battery is charged, the shorter it lasts later on the road.
If you like to charge your Galaxy smartphone overnight and leave it plugged in, you should definitely activate the battery protection. Otherwise, your cell phone will run out of breath for many months before it actually needs to.
The following steps show where you can activate the battery protection.
