Information and rumors about the next flagship from South Korea
The Galaxy S23 only recently saw the light of day, when the first rumors about the successor started to appear. Here we collect for you what is known about the Galaxy S24 so far.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy S23 have already broken records in some countries. This happened, for example, in India and also in South Korea. As expected, Samsung will want to build on the success of the current flagship series with the successor Galaxy S24.
We don’t expect the Galaxy S24 until 2024 at the earliest. We’re guaranteed to find a lot of leaks and other information by the time of release. There are already a number of interesting rumors.
When will the Galaxy S24 be released?
The release is still a long way off, after all, the Galaxy S23 has only been on retail shelves and online shops since February 17, 2023. If the Galaxy S24 also uses a Qualcomm processor, it could appear earlier and be presented before Christmas.
What prices should we expect?
We can’t yet estimate how much the smartphones will cost. The price range of the predecessor goes from 949 dollars for the basic version with 128 gigabytes of memory to 1,819 dollars for the Galaxy S23 Ultra with one terabyte. The prices of the Galaxy S24 could possibly remain at about the same level as the predecessor.
What versions does the Galaxy S24 have?
In recent years, Samsung has had problems with the Plus models. With the S22, only 17% of buyers have opted for a Galaxy S22+. So Samsung could do without a Plus model for the Galaxy S24.
On the other hand, Samsung has arguably given the Galaxy S24 Ultra the codename Muse3. That could again speak for three versions. So the Galaxy S23+ might get a successor after all.
technique and appearance
Of course, the rumors are not limited to the price, the release and the versions of the next smartphone from South Korea. Rumors are also circulating online about the equipment. The processor question in particular could lead to discussions among Samsung fans.
Screen
Regardless of the model, the display of the Galaxy S23 has a refresh rate of 120 Hertz. That could change with the successor. It is possible that Samsung only installs a screen with 144 Hertz in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This is not the case with any Galaxy smartphone.
It could be another Snapdragon processor…
For power users with high performance requirements, a note comes in handy. Loud Sammobile the next Qualcomm processor should be stronger than an Apple16 Bionic. This means that a Galaxy S24 with a possible high-end Snapdragon Gen 3 could perform better than a current iPhone 14 Pro.
The new Snapdragon, which will probably be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, will also have a new core structure. Instead of one Cortex-X3, two Cortex-A715, two Cortex-A710 and three Cortex-A510 cores, the new processor should have a structure of 1+5+2 cores. We do not have any information about the exact type of cores. Although the SoC has a much better graphics unit and the level 3 cage will probably be increased to 10 megabytes, the new chip should not have any losses in efficiency compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
… or Samsung relies on its own Exynos series again
When it comes to the processor, Samsung always has an alternative. Even if the manufacturer opted for a Snapdragon SoC for the Galaxy S23, it doesn’t necessarily have to stay that way. With its 10 cores, the Exynos 2400 would be a hot candidate for the inner workings of the next top smartphone.
With an Exynos processor, the manufacturer could not only save costs that are invested in the memory. Alleged benchmark results show that the Exynos 2400 is 30 percent faster in Geekbench 5 than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Rumor has it that Samsung is planning to use an Exynos processor again in Europe and Southeast Asia.
Storage
Tech enthusiast Tarun Vats believes the Galaxy S24’s RAM will increase. This affects all models of the next flagship. Even the basic version and a possibly appearing plus model should get 12 gigabytes of RAM. That would put them at the level of the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, on the other hand, could distinguish itself from the usually weaker models with 16 gigabytes of RAM.
Camera
Twitter user Ice Universe, known for leaks, sees the Ultra-Modell des Galaxy S24 a new sensor replacing an old one. Instead of a telephoto sensor, something else is installed. Otherwise, it should either stay with the same camera. Alternatively, only minor changes should be made to the main camera.
On the other hand, there are also rumors that Samsung is sticking to the previous camera layout. However, one of the two telephoto cameras is getting an update. The camera, which enables a tenfold optical zoom, is retained. Instead of a camera with a triple zoom, however, a camera with a fivefold optical magnification is to be installed in the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Instead of a replacement, Samsung could also do without a camera sensor altogether. This means that the Galaxy S24 Ultra would only have one telephoto lens. However, this does not necessarily mean that the camera has to be worse in general. After all, the number of cameras is not always a guarantee of good image quality. On the other hand, there is a lens with a variable zoom that has already been presented by an LG subsidiary, which could be used in the long run instead of two fixed zoom levels.
Otherwise little could have changed. With reference to South Korean sources, a well-known leaker reports that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to be equipped with the same ISOCELL HP2 sensor as the current Galaxy S23 Ultra. The 10x zoom is said to have been improved. However, features such as variable zoom would not exist.
battery pack
With the help of a technology that comes from the e-car sector, it should be possible to get ten percent more out of a capacity of 5,000 mAh. This technology could already be used in the Galaxy S24. If the technology is actually ready for the market by the time it is launched, the next top smartphones from Samsung are likely to outshine their predecessors in terms of battery.
However, it should not only enable higher battery capacities, but also a faster charging speed. The Galaxy S24 Ultra can be charged with up to 65 watts.
Note: This constantly updated article is based on leaks, analyst statements, editorial assessments and rumors, the veracity of which is difficult for us to verify from a distance. Until the formal presentation of the Galaxy S24, you should therefore view the information with a certain degree of skepticism.
