The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 is a well-equipped entry-level tablet. If you want to stream your content from the display to the TV, we’ll tell you how to do it.
Did Santa bring you a Galaxy Tab A8 for Christmas? Wonderful! The Samsung tablet is one of the best models for beginners and has many useful functions. One of them is streaming to the television.
In just a few steps you can easily cast content from your tablet to your TV. We’ll tell you how here.
Laying the groundwork: connecting the tablet and TV to WiFi
To connect your tablet to your TV, all devices must first be connected to the same WiFi network. This is the only way your Tab A8 can “find” the other devices.
Once both devices are on the same network, you can connect your tablet to your TV in a variety of ways.
Stream streaming apps to TV
If you want to stream video content from apps like YouTube, Netflix, Samsung TV Plus and many other streaming services, you can easily do it with the push of a button. A box icon with three curved lines can often be found in the top-right corner of the playback screen or the app itself.
If you tap on this, the tablet will show you all possible playback devices in your WLAN. If you have set up several televisions and streaming sticks in your WLAN, the A8 lets you select the right device from a list.
Streaming from an app
If you have found the right entry and tapped it, your tablet will be connected to the corresponding television. You can now start, stop and end playback via the tablet. This can be done directly in the app you are playing from and also in the status menu. You open it by swiping down from the top edge of the device.
By the way: With some services, multiple devices can control the session at the same time. If you have a Galaxy Watch 5 linked to your tablet, you can also control playback via your watch.
Stream tablet to TV via Google Home
You can also mirror your tablet screen to a TV using the Google Home app. This can be done using the Google Home app and a TV stick such as the Google Chromecast if you don’t have a Samsung TV. Then you can stream your screen content to the TV via the app by mirroring content.
What you do on the tablet will then be reflected on your television. This is very useful, for example, if you are giving a presentation or want to share pictures and other media with those present “on the fly”.
Stream tablet to TV via Smart Things app
With Smart Things, Samsung offers its own app for streaming to the TV. It serves as a central remote control for a large number of smart devices from the manufacturer. The app is not pre-installed on your Galaxy Tab A8 at the factory – but it is available in the Google and Samsung app stores.
However, you also need a compatible, WiFi-enabled Samsung TV to use the control via the tablet. Unfortunately, you cannot add other devices. If you are well equipped with Samsung gadgets, you can break down the controls by spatiality.
If all the requirements are met and your tablet is connected to the switched on Samsung television, you can use the Smart View function to mirror your display content to your television. This works the same way as with Google Home: Activities that you carry out on the display are mirrored on the television.
