The foldables Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 could be more expensive than their predecessors. The prices should only apply to France, which doesn’t mean that we can’t get similar prices.
- A French website lists the prices of some memory variants of Samsung’s new foldables, which may also show what pricing could look like in Germany.
- The Galaxy Z Flip 5 could cost between $1,199 and $1,399 in France. This is not only more expensive than the MSRP of the current generation in France, but also more than Samsung charges in Germany.
- Prices for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 range from 1,899 to 2,279 dollars, depending on the memory equipment.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will likely launch on July 26 along with other devices. However, a first supposedly internal price plan was leaked beforehand, which is said to provide for a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold 5, among other things. Samsung may have changed its mind, according to another rumor.
The French website Dealabs lists features and prices of upcoming foldables. We see that the prices shown there for mainland France are higher than expected. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 would therefore cost 1,199 dollars (256 gigabytes) or 1,339 dollars (512 gigabytes) depending on the storage variant.
For the memory variant with 256 gigabytes of memory, Samsung proposes 1,159 dollars for the Galaxy Z Flip 4. In France, according to the Samsung store page 1,169 dollars. The increase would therefore be moderate. In Germany, the version with 512 gigabytes is sold for 1,279 dollars, which would make a difference of 110 dollars. The French Samsung shop does not currently list this memory variant.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 would also be affected by price increases
We can also see a price increase for the Galaxy Z Fold 5. French customers could expect a price of 1,899 dollars to 2,039 dollars. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, on the other hand, only costs 1,799 dollars or 1,919 dollars there. Similar prices apply in Germany. A version of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 with a terabyte of storage should even cost 2,279 dollars.
It remains to be seen whether this rumor will come true and whether similar prices will actually apply to Germany.
