  • Samsung is not showing any new cell phones at the MWC in Barcelona, but rather the Galaxy Ring.
  • Other manufacturers fill the gap and show new models that break one or two records.
  • Among other things, the thinnest outdoor smartphone will be on display at the trade fair.

The Mobile World Congress, or MWC for short, is currently taking place in Barcelona. Many manufacturers are using the world’s largest mobile communications trade fair to announce their new products for spring 2024. Industry leader Samsung already used its powder in this regard in January. The Galaxy S24 has been available in stores for weeks.

At the MWC, Samsung therefore has to stand idly by and watch as other manufacturers draw attention to themselves. Because there are some record-breaking innovations to see in Barcelona.

IIIF150 Air2 Ultra – the world’s thinnest outdoor smartphone

The Chinese manufacturer IIIF150 is showing a very thin outdoor smartphone at MWC with the Air2 Ultra 5G. According to the company, the model is currently the thinnest outdoor smartphone in the world. Certified according to IP68, IP68K and STD-810H, the phone is only 8.55 millimeters thick. For comparison: Samsung’s new outdoor cell phone Xcover 7 is 10.2 millimeters thick, the CAT S75 is even 11.9 millimeters thick.

Compared to its predecessor, the manufacturer has significantly reduced the depth again. The Air1 Ultra was still 9.55 millimeters thick. The case is not only thinner, but also more compact – at least compared to its predecessor. The cell phone only measures 170.3 mm in height and 79.8 mm in width. In the predecessor it was 176.3 and 81.8 millimeters respectively. However, the cell phone is of course still significantly larger than an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

According to the manufacturer, the slimmer design should be possible through the use of a new display panel called “Flexible AMOLED”. The screen is 6.8 inches and has a Full HD resolution. The peak brightness is 2,400 nits. The maximum refresh rate is 120 Hertz. The thin outdoor smartphone is scheduled to go on sale in April. A price has not yet been determined. It is probably only available in this country via Amazon.

Energizer Hard Case P28K: The cell phone with the largest battery

With its 21,000 milliamp hour battery, the Oukitel WP19 we tested in 2023 already set a record in terms of battery size. But now the cell phone has lost the title of “smartphone with the largest battery” for the time being. Avenir Telecom is showing the Energizer Hard Case P28K model at MWC.

This contains a battery with a capacity of 28,000 mAh. The manufacturer promises enough power for a week of battery life. The Energizer Hard Case P28K is scheduled to go on sale in October. The price is surprisingly low at 249 dollars.

Nubia Music

The Nubia Music is also surprisingly affordable. The cell phone will be available online from April for 149 dollars. Its trademark is the DTS-X certified speaker on the back. Thanks to this, the ZTE subsidiary’s cell phone is around 600 times louder than all other smartphones on the market. We were able to see this for ourselves at the trade fair stand.

According to the manufacturer, to fill the 10,000 mAh battery, the tablet only needs to be left plugged in for 35 minutes. A record for tablets with a battery of this size.
