Honor has set a new record with its upcoming Foldable Magic V3. But Samsung could soon strike back. The Flip 6 and Fold 6 are set to be a world premiere.
Foldables are cell phones with foldable displays, either horizontally or vertically. And Samsung has a special position in this product segment, as it has released the most foldables to date. This year, Samsung is expected to present its sixth generation of foldables with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Flip 6.
This makes it all the more bitter that – despite all the expertise – a competitor recently set a record for foldables and managed to do what Samsung has so far failed to do. However, rumors say that the company is now striking back and wants to show the world that its foldables are, once again, the first in something.
Samsung’s new foldables are the first with IP48 certification
As the online magazine SamMobile reported that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 are said to be the first foldables with IP48 certification. This would make them dust and water resistant, making them the first foldable phones on the market to have this protection class.
For comparison: The last foldable generation from Samsung (Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 and generations before that) had the IPX8 protection class. This meant they were protected against water – but not against dust. Incidentally, the Huawei Mate X3 also has the IPX8 protection class.
We can assume that Samsung will say more about its new foldables at its Unpacked event on July 10th, and perhaps the company will secure its pioneering position with other features.
In any case, you can now register for the new Samsung devices without obligation and receive gifts and the chance to win 500 dollars.
