Users are frustrated
Samsung is now placing ads in the TV's operating system. Many users see that their device operations are disrupted by ads in the "smart center" and make their frustration on Twitter appear for free. Samsung answered with an explanation.
Microsoft is already trying to show ads in certain places in Windows 10. However, this is not to disrupt the user experience too much. Twitter user Working place Here's how it works: Samsung TV recently showed ads in the middle of Smart Hub.
As shown below, Smart Hub even displays ads for Netto as symbols similar to apps. It's at the front, where Smart Hub's navigation actually starts. At the same time, the Twitter thread has eased user disappointment with Samsung's new "features." Especially since ads obviously cannot be disabled.
Samsung also spoke on Twitter. Overlays only work in Smart Hub and do not interfere with TV viewing. This does not seem to calm the angry Samsung community. One of those affected wrote that advertising would take up computing power and slow down the system.
It remains to be seen whether Samsung will respond to harsh criticism by removing or at least postponing advertising in the future. However, so far this explanation suggests that we must first accept more ads in Smart Hub.
